The HMD (hot metal detector) is designed to deliver an all-or-nothing signal through different types of outputs upon detection of a hot product. It is used for numerous applications in steel mill process automation, but primarily for tracking any type of hot product (slab, billet, strip, bar, rod, wire) within the continuous casting and hot rolling mill areas.
